Pool Finally Opened

YEAH!  After a two month delay, our pool is finally opened.   Now bring on the hot weather!

Pool Leaking in Storage Lockers

I just had one of the tenants show me a leak from the swimming pool drain in the storage lockers.  It is a pretty good leak and if you have a storage locker on the bottom level mid section, I would definitely go check your stuff right away! But should that leak worsen many more locker contents will sustain water damage.

The tenant said he has put in a call but could only leave a message…. at least Jerry would of acted immediately to this situation!

Elevator Broken Again

Arrived home from work at 8pm to find one of the elevators with its doors stuck partially open on the basement floor… and I believe its the one that had some repairs done to it…

July Update

– As some of you may already know,  Jerry has been fired and according to him, he has no idea why.   He still resides here but we didn’t receive any formal notice from CAPREIT regarding this matter so I don’t know who has replaced him.

– The pool water is no longer algea green and is indicative of the filtration system working – YEAH!  But there is still lots of debris at the bottom of the pool so I would expect that to be removed soon and the pool to be finally open… hopefully in time for the Summer that has yet to arrive -this Novemjuly weather sucks!

– I spoke with a individual in the lobby the other day who was taking pictures of the walls and ceiling.  He informed me that he is a contractor working on a quote for CAPREIT to remodel the lobby and replace that classic chandelier.  REALLY??  I see nothing wrong cosmetically with the lobby that a coat of paint wouldn’t fix!   How about investing in new elevator call buttons that actually work and light up or replacing some of the electrical circutry in the elevator room or replace the cables in the second elevator because its still very noisy in tenant suits!  I would be stupefied if CAPREIT prioritized renovation work on the lobby before addressing critical elevator issues.

– I went across the street and did two loads of laundry in hot water for $2.25 and then dried those loads for $1.75 ( my jean waists were still still damp but I could live with that) for a total of $4.00 for a two load wash and dry.  The cost in this building to do that same amount of laundry in hot water would of cost me $10.00!! I saved $6.00 by walking a block to the laundromat. So if I do the same amount of laundry each week and do my laundry across the street each time, I would save $312.00 per year – WOW!

– I spoke with a technician serving the building’s laundry room last week and he stated that their pay center is tamper proof and that your information secure.  He also told me that one of these machines were recently stolen out of a local building because the thief thought it contained money – LOL!

– One thing you may or may not of considered is that when you “Charge” up your laundry card (with more then the immediate costs of your laundry requirements) you are removing funds from your bank and placing it into the machine operator’s bank account where they get to enjoy the interest on your money which is not very significant on an individual basis but multiply that by thousands of cards and it becomes a major (interest) cash grab… You are already paying a high enough price to do your laundry, do you really want to to be giving away additional money to these people? Think about it next time you add $25 bucks to your card…

Pool Deck Cleaned

The pool deck has been power washed and looks great but I can’t say the same for the water! Last week the pool was being drained but now the draining has stopped and the water conditions worsen.

I believe the pump is now fixed . However,  there was an issue with a pipe but I don’t know what the current status is on the mechanical system or why they have stopped draining the pool.

Today would of been the perfect summer day to go for a refreshing dip in the pool after a long hot day in the studio… *sigh.

Garbage Pilling Up

I am not sure why our garbage bins are overflowing and that garbage is now pilling up on the ground around them but it sure is nasty!

Might of been because our weekly scheduled pickups are on Fridays and last Friday was a Holiday. I don’t know but one would think building management would circulate a memorandum informing us about the current problem and advise us as to when the garbage will be collected.

In the meantime I hope all this garbage doesn’t attract rats into the building!

New Laundry Machines Installed

The new laundry machines have been installed and now we pay significantly more per load: $2.75 cold water, $3.00 hot water.  Oh and the pay terminal wasn’t working … it stated ” No Dial Tone Available”.

$2.50 across the street at the laundromat for a double loader, that’s a $1.25 per HOT WATER load not $3.00 here… and a little walk can be very healthy too!

Elevator Dropped!

I have experienced my share of  faulty elevator behavior over the last few months that I have resided in this building  but this morning’s incident is by far the worst I have experienced to date.

At about 7:45 am I experienced an extremely violent  drop and car shaking: I don’t scare easily but this was very traumatizing  – My heart is still pounding fast!

If standing in front looking at the elevators, it was the one on the left and there defiantly hasn’t been any cable change. And yes the noise emanating from this elevator is still loud and invasive.  Come on CAPREIT you’re doing good, now finish the repairs and make your tenants happy and SAFE!!
